The pros of using stock images  

It’s cheaper (sometimes)

There are lots of websites out there offering stock images. But whether you want to pay and access a huge library or prefer free stock image websites like Pexels it will probably work out cheaper. Hiring a photographer, having staff away from their desks and planning the brief all cost time and money.  

It’s easier

If you need an image quickly, don’t want to produce a creative brief and don’t want to take time out of your staff’s days then stock images are for you.  

Done is better than perfect 

Too many things never get done because people are too busy being perfectionists rather than getting on with it. If you use stock images they’ll be available straight away and you can get your website or blog posts live sooner.  

The cons to using stock images

 

You may see the same images everywhere else

It can be very surreal seeing the same images you have on your website elsewhere on the web. And other people are bound to see them as well. This can make your brand look less professional. On the other hand, you need to decide how much that matters to your prospective customers.  

People will get more of a feel for your brand

Potential customers will instantly see what your company is about and may instantly feel a connection. This is especially important for websites selling physical products.  

Stock images can sometimes be boring

People will often have seen the same stock images before. And there’s a soullessness that comes with using stock images compared to using your own.
