1. Make sure your images and videos are good quality
If you don’t have an in-house photographer hire an outside photographer or videographer. Everything you post must be eye catching and tell the story you want it to.
People now check their stories before their feed on Instagram. Stories are now the best way to get your audience’s attention. If your new post isn’t getting enough traction you can add an Instagram story letting your followers know.
3. Run a competition
Competitions encourage engagement, which will get your more followers and more likes. This in turn gets you to the top of the newsfeed, which encourages even more engagement.
4. Use Influencer marketing
Influencers with lots of followers and engagement can give your brand a boost and help you beat the Instagram algorithm. They not only offer another way to get your images and brand to the top of the feed through their account, the links back to your account will help you gain some authority within the app.
5. Work on your captions
Captions can be just as important as your images. They need to connect with your users and how they may be feeling at that time (think Monday content for example). They need to tell a story and encourage people to understand your brand and what you stand for.
6. Use hashtags
Using hashtags is another way to help followers to find you without going through the newsfeed. It’s important to include them in your captions and can help people find you in the Search and Explore page.
7. Provide value to your followers
Giving your users free advice, tips or something else useful will encourage engagement as well as positive brand sentiment.
8. Use trends to your advantage
Hopping on a trend is a great way to encourage engagement, as well as get you to the top of the Search and Explore pages. Things like #fridayvibes are great if you’re not sure where to start, but it’s good to be more specific to your target audience as well. To find the best Instagram trends follow other brands who are active on Instagram, as well as influencers.
9. Know the best times to post to Instagram
Timing is a key factor when trying to beat the Instagram algorithm. Times vary depending on your audience and your niche, but generally 5pm on weekdays, especially Wednesdays, is a great time to post. Friday afternoons and Sunday afternoons are also good times to post.
If you want a to get around the Instagram algorithm quickly the best way to go about it is to use paid advertising. You can start with very little money and see it start to work for your brand, and you are guaranteed to get a place in the newsfeed if you pay for it.
